Our Bistro Story
My name's Sam Grout, and I run The Old Rock Shop Bistro along with my sister Rachel.
I started here as a part-time waiter about 10 years ago, when the restaurant had a different name. After a while, the owner wanted to sell up, and I took over the business in 2007.
We chose a new name that reflects the heritage of our building. If you know the town well, you may remember it as J&M's Rock Shop, a tourist favourite that traded here for over 20 years.
Since then, we've made plenty of changes to the menu, service and atmosphere, and started sourcing our meat, fish and other ingredients from local suppliers who've also been in Cromer for many years.
People seem to like it, and we’ve seen our little bistro grow into one of the busiest places to eat in Cromer, popular all year round with locals and holidaymakers alike.
